It is not uncommon for patients to feel some discomfort at the area where the probe is applied but this will indicate that the shockwaves are being delivered to the problematic area. The feeling / discomfort during shockwave should be tolerable and not exceed a rating of 5-6/10 on a pain scale.

What can I do after treatment?

In some cases, the treated area may feel slightly sore but will not prevent you undertaking normal daily activities.

How many treatments are needed?

This is dependent on how you respond to treatment. On average, it is recommended that 3 – 6 treatment sessions are performed to achieve the desired results.

Can anyone receive Shockwave?

With a few exceptions, most people with chronic and ongoing conditions can have shockwave therapy performed. Your Podiatrist will carry out an assessment prior to treatment and will be able to advise you on this.
